Your Website is Live. Now What? (How to Get Traffic in 2026)
Why isn't your new website ranking on Google? Discover the essential steps after launch: SEO basics, paid ads, and analytics. Don't let your site become a ghost town.
The Website is Live.
Champagne Popped.
Where are the Sales?
Imagine opening the best coffee shop in town. Stunning interior, amazing coffee. But you built it... in the middle of a deep forest where no one walks.
That is exactly what a new website looks like right after launch.
Clients often think: "I paid for the site, so my phone should start ringing now." That’s a brutal misconception. A website is just a vehicle. For the vehicle to move, it needs fuel (traffic).
Here are 3 things you must address immediately after I hand over the keys.
1. Tell Google You Exist (SEO)
You might Google your company name and find nothing. That’s normal. Google is a slow bureaucrat. It takes time (2 weeks to a month) to "index" your site.
Action Plan:
Connect Google Search Console (I do this for all my clients).
Start blogging. Google loves fresh content.
Set up a Google Business Profile (Maps). This is the fastest way to get local traffic.
2. The Fast Track (Paid Ads)
SEO is a marathon (results take 3-6 months). If you need clients yesterday, there is only one way: pay for them.
Google Ads: Someone searches for "buy concrete," sees your ad, and clicks. Expensive, but instant.
Social Ads (Instagram/LinkedIn): Show your product to people based on their interests.
3. Analytics (Don't Fly Blind)
Running a website without analytics is like driving with your eyes closed. You need to know:
Where are people coming from?
Why are they leaving the homepage?
Did they click the "Buy" button?
Google Analytics 4 setup is mandatory. Without it, you are just burning money.
Bottom Line
A website alone doesn't make money. Website + Marketing makes money.
My job as a developer is to ensure that when a visitor arrives, they convert into a customer. Marketing's job is to get them there.
